The mountain pasture " les Fonts "

The pasture and chalets are nestled in a picturesque mountain cirque. Come visit and you will be surprised by the wild beauty of the site intimately surrounded by mountain cliffs from which numerous waterfalls spring. If you look carefully, you may see the Ibex or the Chamois, or perhaps the royal eagle, gliding gracefully overhead.

Geographical situation

Situated between Lake Geneva and the Chamonix valley, the "Haute Giffre" is the upper part of the Giffre, a northern tributary of the Arve river which joins the Rhone river in Geneva.

The head of the valley is buttressed by two cirques: 'Les Fonts' and the better known, 'Fer à Cheval'; the last ramparts separating Switzerland from the Chamonix valley.

The commune of Sixt is located in the Haute Savoie department; its altitude varies from 765meters above sea level in the village to 3109meters atop Mont Buet. Within its boundaries lies the largest natural reserve of Haute Savoie, 9200 hectares, or 22,730 acres, of protected nature with exceptional flora and fauna.
Sixt Fer à Cheval has been classified as one of the 'Grand Sites de France'. It includes spectacular sites like the Fer a Cheval cirque, the Rouget waterfall and the Plate desert. Of course the more remote 'Cirque des Fonts' is well worth the excursion.
